Free Cyber Security Classes – October 3 in Norfolk

Motor Carrier Partners,

We all recognize the growing number of threats emerging from the digital world. News headlines offer regular reminders of this troubling trend.

At The Port of Virginia, we are investing significant time and resources in the area of cyber security. We want you, your cargo and your information to be safe and secure. With this in mind, we are pleased to announce two cyber security educational sessions, hosted by the port. These sessions are scheduled for Tuesday, October 3, in our World Trade Center boardroom.

The sessions are offered free of charge and are open to all members of the local trucking community. Session one will begin at 9:00 a.m. and session two will begin at 1:30 p.m. (both on October 3). Each session will last from 1.5 – 2 hours. Please plan to attend one session only.

Topics to be covered include:

• What is cyber security?
• Attack statistics
• Who are the attackers?
• What are the attacks focused on?
• What is a weak password?
• Typical password policy – why it fails
• What is a passphrase and how to create one securely?
• What is phishing and how to protect against it?

If you have questions regarding attendance, please contact Vance Griffin, V.P. of Terminal Services – vgriffin@vit.org

We look forward to partnering with you, to build a stronger, more secure, port.

Regards,

Greg
